I kind of feel bad for aunt Dora because she is afraid of everything and it’s going to change her life. She doesn’t seem that bad compared to gran. By the way, I have questions. What is a dust mite? And what is saliva? And what is fragile?
caxtoncollege
Hi – I agree with you Nicole. It isn’t really her fault that she’s so nervous, perhaps after staying with dave and Fred she may become more confident…
caxtoncollege
Oh and saliva is another word for spit (the liquid we all get in our mouths) and dust mites are really tiny insects that are everywhere, but completely harmless.

What is fragile?
caxtoncollege
You have to be a detective Nicole… So, firstly try to think about context of the sentence… what could it mean? What is described as ‘fragile’?Is it similar to any other words you may know? Are there any clues in the text?
If that doesn’t help – have a look in a dictionary (online is fine, but a kids dictionary is better as the definitions will be easier to understand), if it’s still unclear – have a look at the synonyms of the word. Then after that, ask an adult. YOU CAN DO IT!!! You will feel proud of yourself if you show perseverance and find the answer yourself Nicole – as I know you are very intelligent. Happy detective work!

Thanks! ???????

So fragile is when something is breakable like glass! That’s why on boxes ? it says fragile because the thing in the box is fragile! It is breakable! Thank you very much!
caxtoncollege
Exactly – you explained it perfectly. And if a person is described as fragile – they get upset very easily.
