Perseverance Video

Hi

Do you remember this video we watched in a SEALs assembly last year? I thought I’d share it with you for two reasons, firstly the animation is fabulous and secondly because of the message… If at first, you don’t succeed, keep trying and you will… eventually.

Can you tell us about a time when you kept trying and found success in the end?

Caxton’s New Recycling Bins

Hi everyone,

In our ongoing quest to make Caxton greener we have added lots of new recycling bins to the playground. I have put labels on the to make it easier to remember what goes where. Also, please remember that aluminium foil goes in the yellow plastics bin too. There are lots of them on the playground now. SO,  LET’S BE GREENER!!!

Eco Competition!!!

Want to win a scooter and help the school become more ‘ecofriendly’ at the same time? Here is the video, for the competition, with all the information on it.

To be in with a chance of winning, all you need to do is come up with an eco idea for the school to help us to be greener.

It could be anything from improving our recycling, wasting less, reducing our water or energy consumption, creating a school garden, etc.

To enter you need to tell us:

  1. what the idea is,
  2. why it is important, for example what environmental issue will it help, i.e. fighting against climate change, protecting the oceans, reducing waste or pollution, etc.,
  3. will it have any other benefits; for example saving energy will help the school save money, or a school garden with help students learn about and enjoy healthier food choices.

The best idea will be chosen based on the following criteria:

Originality

Persuasive Argument

Practicality

The winning idea will then be set up in the school to help us to be greener.

Entries can be submitted in any format, i.e. written on paper or computer, as a presentation, movie, etc. All entries need to be given to your class teacher by 30th September. All entrants will also have a chance of being chosen to be one of this year’s Eco-Warriors.

Welcome Back to School!!!

We are all very excited to be back at school and hope that you are too. If you would like to tell us something interesting about yourself or what you have been doing recently, please post it here. Remember to use good English and not too many emojis!

Also, only use your first name when online and you can add your class if you want to, for example, John 5E.

Y5s, we will use the blog quite a bit to help you with your learning, but don’t worry – I will come round to the classrooms to show you how to use it. At the same time you will learn how to behave safely and sensibly when online.
