Caxton Creative Writing

Well, we haven’t had any of these amusing photos to spark your creative writing this term, so here are a few. Write a story or  descriptive paragraph about one of them. Look back at old posts to see some wonderful examples.

S2S

  1. Look at the photos and have a really good think about how the situation may have come about. Could you give the characters human qualities (personification)? What might happen next?
  2. Talk through the story, that you have created, with a friend or adult. Could it be upleveled or improved?
  3. Write out the story in Pages. Then read it again and uplevel it (think about VCOP, could you add some adjectives, adverbs, similes, metaphors, speech punctuation…)
  4. Reread. Are there any words underlined in red? If so, you your spell check sensibly.
  5. Post it (copy and paste) and let everyone else read your wonderfully creative writing!

The best ones will get a purple form. Come on, let’s get writing!!!

Do you know who the world’s best photographer is? Well, his name is Ryan Foster and he has taken over a thousand photos that have ended up in museums. But this photographer had a secret. He could… freeze time! Let me tell you how.

When Ryan was born he was one of three triplets. His family was very rich and they gave each one of the babies a special gift. James was the first one to see the real world, Marcus was the second and Ryan was the third. James received a hammer that could fix anything, Marcus was given a watch that could make him teleport and Ryan was given a stopwatch that could freeze time!

The three kids went on to be heroes. Although James was always jealous of Ryan’s gift. He thought you could use it to; cheat in exams, prank people, steal things, cheat in sports, etc. But the only person who could harness the power is the person who is holding the stopwatch.

Ryan realized that with the stopwatch he could use it to take amazing photos! He went around the world freezing time to see if there were some amazing photo opportunities. Today, his most famous photos which are the Dog Eating a Bubble and The Bird Attacking the Mantis are in the Thornton National Museum. He received millions of pounds for a single photo!

One day, when he woke up in the morning his stopwatch was gone! He searched his mansion from top to bottom, inside out, but it wasn’t there. He started to panic but thought of a better idea. He could use his radar to locate the location of his stopwatch. He turned it on and found out it was in a trench in the Pacific Ocean. It was a good thing he knew how to scuba dive in his extra-deep dive suit.

When he was almost there, he noticed something really strange, the fish were not real. They were just robot fish. Slowly and carefully Ryan snuck past the robo-fish to find a door with a lock. Ryan was confused to find a door at the bottom of the ocean. Ryan tried different passwords but couldn’t get in. Right before he was going to give up he spotted something on the fish. It said 493131. Ryan tried those numbers and it worked!

Inside there was a large circular platform. Ryan stepped on it and nothing happened, he pressed a blue button, nothing. Then, he tried the purple one and the platform descended down a large hole. At the bottom he spotted his stopwatch on a weighing scale. He was so excited, he went running to get it, but he stopped. A small drop of water fell onto the bridge in front of him and the bridge opened up and everything fell down a deep, dark hole. The bridge looked normal again, but to Ryan it looked like a snake coiled up ready to stick its sharp fangs into your body.

Panicking he didn’t know what to do. He realized there were only two options; go home or try to climb under the bridge. He decided to keep persevering. Gripping the edges of the bridge Ryan got to the other side. He was sweating like crazy, and panting like a dog. He was sure there was nothing else bad that could happen but he was wrong…

He noticed that if you would remove the stopwatch the scale wouldn’t be as heavy. That would end up making something even worse happen. No idea what to do he started running around in circles with his hands in the air yelling “Noooooooooo!!!!” Then he realized that he was terrible at thinking. All he had to do was press the button to freeze time and he could get out of there safely. That was exactly what he did.

When he got home there was nobody there. He looked everywhere but there wasn’t anyone. He entered the kitchen and then he heard a voice “Hello brother. I’ve seen you got your stopwatch back.” He exclaimed. It was James!
Before Ryan could open his mouth to speak, he got tackled! Clearly James wanted to fight. Ryan was never good at fighting but James was. Ryan got kneed in the stomach and punched in the face. Ryan managed to push him back but that didn’t do much. James got right back up and kicked Ryan in the face. Ryan was lying on the ground with a bloody lip, black eye and bruised forehead. He was too weak to get back up. James grabbed a knife off the counter. He was about to stab him when he fell onto the ground.

James was unconscious for sure. Ryan was surprised to see his brother Marcus standing behind James. He had teleported here using his watch and he must have knocked James unconscious too. “You okay little bro?” Marcus asked worriedly. “Yeah I’m fine. Thanks.” Ryan replied. “Well I’ve got to go. See you later.” Marcus said right before he left.

Today they all live happily. Well, except for James. He’s in a prison cell.

    Hope you enjoyed it!

    • Ethan – you are a superstar! I absolutely love your stories. My bucket is absolutely overflowing and you should be very proud of your story writing skills. You have used fantastic description, super similes, adverbs, adjective, ‘ing’ sentence starters – the lot! If I searched for a way of upleveling, I suppose a greater range of punctuation could be used. However, the most important thing to remember is that you are an amazing story teller… thanks.

What do you all think about this fantastically interesting and action packed story? Definitly worth a purple form at least…
